چکیده

We performed time-series photometry of the PG1159-type star HE 1429−1209, which was recently discovered in the ESO SPY survey. We show that the star is a low-amplitude (≈0.05 mag) non-radial g-mode pulsator with a period of 919 s. HE 1429−1209 is among the hottest known post-AGB stars (T eff =160 000 K) and, together with the known pulsator RX J2117.1+3412, it defines empirically the blue edge of the GW Vir instability strip in the HRD at high luminosities.

ABELL 43 , a second pulsating “ hybrid - PG 1159 ” star ⋆

An abstract should be given e report observations of the planetary nebula nucleus Abell 43, obtained at the 2.5m Nordic Optical Telescope, which show that it is a pulsator. Abell 43, a " hybrid-PG 1159 " type star, is the second pulsator of this class, after HS 2324+3944. From the limited data set acquired, we find that Abell 43 exhibits at least two periods of 2600 s and 3035 s, the longest on...

HS 2324 + 3944 : discovery of non - radial pulsations in a hydrogen - rich PG 1159 star ⋆

HS2324+3944 is a peculiar PG1159 star, with a high amount of H in its atmosphere (Dreizler et al. 1995). Its location in the logTeff – log g plane is well inside the GW Vir instability strip. In this paper I report the results of two photoelectric observations of HS 2324+39, which clearly show that the luminosity of this star presents periodical variations with a period of (2140 ± 11) s. This p...

The Nature of the Driving Mechanism in the Pulsating Hybrid PG 1159 Star Abell 43

We extend our previous pulsational stability analyses of PG 1159 stars by modeling the hybrid PG 1159 type star Abell 43. We show that the standard κ-mechanism due to the ionization of C and O in the envelope of this H-rich PG 1159 star is perfectly able to drive g-mode pulsations. Thus, contrary to a recent suggestion, there is no need to invoke any new or exotic mechanism to explain the pulsa...

RV variable , hot post - AGB stars from the MUCHFUSS project - Classification , atmospheric parameters , formation scenarios

In the course of the MUCHFUSS project we have recently discovered four radial velocity (RV) variable, hot (Teff ≈ 80 000−110 000 K) post-asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars. Among them, we found the first known RV variable O(He) star, the only second known RV variable PG 1159 close binary candidate, as well as the first two naked (i.e., without planetary nebula (PN)) H-rich post-AGB stars of sp...
